The Inishowen Peninsula is without doubt one of the most scenic parts of Co. Donegal.
Greencastle, Donegal’s second most important fishing harbour, is situated on the east side of the Inishowen Peninsula close to where Lough Foyle narrows at Magilligan Point and extrudes the type of charm one would expect from a busy fishing port – a destination in itself for many people visiting this part of the country.
With breathtaking sea views, castle ruins and a hill walkers paradise, Greencastle has something to offer every type of traveller. Greencastle also features an internationally recognised 18 hole golf course.
Located 25 minutes from the historic City of Derry and only 1.5 hours drive from Belfast International Airport, Greencastle village is a wonderful place to spend some time in or even use as a base for visiting so many well known local attractions such as the famous City walls of Derry which are one of the only remaining fully intact walls of Europe. Across the river Foyle you have the breaktaking Antrim coast which includes famous landmarks such as The Giants Causeway, The Old Bushmills Distillery and Dunluce Castle to name only a few.
